Early Times Report

Rajouri, Jan 6: The Covid-19 pandemic is once again trying to raise its ugly head as the Omicron variant has now started infecting people throughout the country. In Rajouri also, the Covid-19 infections have started to rise prompting the authorities to take preventive and precautionary measures in Public Interest.
But for some Officials, there is a clear distinction between common people and influential people as only common, downtrodden and helpless public is penalised for violation of Covid-19 SOPs while some influential people violating SOPs are spared because of their approach and influence.
It is expected from the Law Enforcers that all are treated equally but unfortunately Rich and influential people are spared while the poor and helpless people are penalised even if they apologise numerous times.
Only two days ago, during one inauguration program only the BDO of the concerned area was seen wearing face mask while all others were without face masks and violating Covid SOPs. When one journalist reached the office of BDO Budhal, many panches and employees were present but to his extreme shock no one was wearing Face Mask.
A video has gone viral in the Social Media in which Enforcement Team in Budhal Block led by BDO is seen penalising and challaning common people while influential people are made to go scot free.
When the journalist contacted the concerned ADC, no satisfactory response was received.
If the Covid Pandemic does not discriminate between rich and poor, influential and downtrodden, why should the authorities discriminate between them.
