Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 11: Administration of the cash-starved Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is spending crores and crores of rupees on publicity but the government is harassing over 130 displaced Anganwadi workers of Kashmir by denying them honorarium for the last three years.
These displaced Anganwadi workers were working in Anganwadi centres in different areas of Kashmir Valley before migration.
At present these helpless workers have been performing their duties in different Anganwadi centres of Jammu province since 1990 years.
Migrated from different areas of Kashmir Valley in the early 1990s after the eruption of terrorism, these Anganwari workers have been performing their duties in different Anganwari centres in Jammu run by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme of Socal Welfare Department.
Aggrieved Anganwari workers said that since 2020 they were not paid wages. In the year 2108, these workers were paid wages only for five months. Similarly, in the year 2019, only eight months of wages were released. Since 2020, authorities have stopped releasing their wages.
The Supreme Court has also directed the Jammu and Kashmir Government to release and disburse monthly honorarium to displaced migrant Anganwari workers regularly.
These workers have worked tirelessly in the implementation of various Government schemes and even acted as frontline workers during the first and second waves of the deadly Coronavirus.
These workers have not been paid the full wages of 2020 and 2021. These displaced Anganwadi workers face hardships in their day-to-day life.
These helpless workers are running from pillar to post for the release of their honorarium and taking up the issue with the higher authorities in the department but to no avail.
