Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 13: Mismanagement and violation of COVID-19 guidelines were witnessed in two days of Lohri celebrations organised by the Tourism Department at Raghumnath Bazar thereby wasting public money, which could have been utilized in other works.
In order to promote Dogra culture, the Tourism Department had organised Lohri celebrations at famous Raghunath Bazar wherein several stages for performers were installed, stalls for Dogra cuisine were installed at Raghunath Bazar road but mismanagement spoiled the real essence of this program.
Music artists, folk singers were performing amid traffic which irked the people who visited the place to enjoy the celebrations and especially the passerby who were not given space to stop for a while to enjoy the programme.
“Although the timing of Lohri celebrations was kept for evening in these two days for few hours only and it would have been better that the traffic movement was stopped from this stretch but due to negligence of the department, ” local traders alleged. There was a huge crowd of people, who were watching this cultural bonanza which was very threatening in terms of spreading COVID-19 despite the fact that the virus has been spreading at a high rate with each passing day.
“There was total mess in this programme and wastage of public money as the Tourism Department spent the money in organizing Lohri celebrations,” they alleged.
