Decision to extinguish Amar Jawan Jyoti is sin, insult to martyrs: Cong | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 22: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has castigated the Modi govt for extinguishing the eternal Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate after fifty years of its installation in the memories of those 3843 war heroes who led nation to unparallel victory in 1971 war. JKPCC Chief Spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma said that the Amar Jawan Jyoti was not only symbol of the sacrifices and valour of our jawans under an able command of Field Marshall Manekshaw and several others and dynamic leadership of the country led by Indira Gandhi but also the supreme symbol of the pride of the nation for the crushing defeat of Pakistan, surrender of around 93000 Pak forces and creation of Bangladesh. It was installed and kindled by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 26th January, 1972 and since then it continued to salute the great martyrs of our great nation but most unfortunately it is being extinguished today and merged, thus extinguishing that the honour, dignity and the identity of the marvellous and unparallel victory of the nation. Taking strong objection to the arbitrary actions of the Modi govt, JK Congress has termed it most unwise and unfortunate decision. |
