Weather improves in Kashmir Valley

SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Weather in Kashmir improved on Monday after week-long rain and snowfall. The MeT forecasts dry weather till January end.
Night temperature in the valley improved except in the ski resort of Gulmarg, where a minimum of minus 9.5 degrees Celsius was recorded.
Dry weather is also expected in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, the weatherman said.
Light rain/snow is possible at a few places in Jammu region and Ladakh (especially in Kargil district).
Gulmarg, in north Kashmir, which saw a dip of 2.5 degrees in 24 hours also received 11mm rainfall and 11cm snowfall till 8.30am, a Meteorological Department official said.
Srinagar recorded a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius and received 2.6mm of rain.
Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at sub-zero temperature and received 5.6mm of rain.
Tourist resort of Pahalgam also in the south, recorded a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius against minus 1.2 degrees Celsius the previous night and received 18mm rainfall and 12.8cm of snow.
Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.5 degree Celsius as it received 6.2mm rainfall and 3.5cm of snow.
Frontier district of Kupwara recorded a low of 0.2 degree Celsius and received 1.7mm of rain till 8.30 am.
