Reservation to women in JKP landmark decision: Rekha Mahajan | | | Early times Report
Jammu, Jan 25: Announcing fifteen (15) percent reservation to women in the non gazetted posts in Jammu and Kashmir Police is one more step of the UT government towards further strengthening the women empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir. It also indicates the concern of the government for socio economic upliftment of the women. In a statement, Rekha Mahajan, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir BJP, said that giving reservation to women will not only provide them job opportunity but also help them to be self reliant, thus relieve them of financial dependency and lead a dignified social life. Their services in the police department will be a big help in matters related to crime cases against women as the affected ones would be in a comfort position to discuss and share their problems and grievances with the women personnel, she said. Rekha further said that the women are no less in intelligence, capability and capacity and can do better in any field. In today's fast moving world, the women have registered their presence even in such spheres, which, were once assumed to be conquered by men only. She expressed confidence that the entry of a large number of women in Jammu and Kashmir Police after the implementation of fifteen percent reservation will also inspire more and more daughters of the soil to take benefit and get absorbed in non gazetted posts in JKP. Meanwhile, she appreciated the decision, as announced by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, on National Girl Child Day, in favour of the women and hoped that the UT will continue to work on taking similar steps with more opportunities for welfare and empowerment in future. The women will get large share in jobs in JKP as the Lieutenant Governor has stated that the 15 percent reservation is just the beginning and the government is determined and committed to increase it further in future, she mentioned. She also congratulated daughter of the soil, Arushi Kotwal from District Doda's Chinta village, for being conferred with the presitigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 by PM Narendra Modi for her exceptional achievements in the field of sports (Chess). |
