Regularize services of consolidated employees, release pending salaries
If our demands were not met by or before Feb 10 we will go for hunger strike: Chairman JKSRTC

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 27: Workers Union of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation today held a press conference in Srinagar where they put forth their demands before the government and gave them a deadline to fulfill their genuine demands by or before February 10.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, JKSRTC Workers Union Chairman, Wjahat Hussain Dhurani said that various employees of Jammu Kashmir State Road and Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) are facing numerous problems.
"First of all from last four months we are without salaries, in a period of 4 or 5 months, we are only being given a one month salary, 56% DA has been reduced to our salaries, and due to which we are bearing the brunt, and our children, family is facing starvation and gets disturnbed", said Wajahat Dhurani.
Chairman said that, recently government spent almost one to one and half crores to bring new SRTC buses so that people will be at ease, which means they kept the old stocks as it is, they are trying hard to make the corporation profitable, but at the same time they should have released our salaries and announce new packages of one to two hundred crores, and let the government understands if it is so, then who will run these vehicles.
"Is it a genuine thing that, our family will die of starvation at our home and here we will provide free service to government, now enough is enough, pandemic is for every one not only for SRTC employees, adding even during strikes our driver went of to other states with passengers, only to provide good service, but what happened, Chairman asked.
He said that we want to ask the government if you have heavily invested in the corporation and purchased hundreds of vehicles but what about the salaries, arrears and regularization of consolidated employees who are working from the last twelve years.
"What about those employees who served this department from last forty years and since 2019 till date not a single penny was paid to them, even neither leave salary nor gratuity, it simply means there is no salary for those who worked and for those also who didn't worked at all, said Wjahat Dhurani.
He informed that, we will give them a written notice of fifteen days and that was earlier given to them and at the same time we are fulfilling the our requisites under law, and by or before February 10, if our demands were not met especially salary, regularization and release of other pending issues like DA and 7th pay commission we will exercise our statutory right of strike, after which there will be a hunger strike, protests and rallies for which all government and managements will be held responsible.
Again we are giving them a chance today to fulfill our genuine demands in one go, otherwise if they want us to continue our services, let them pay our salaries and if not then close the corporation for once and all and pay our pending wages, observed Chairman.
However, responding to a question, the chairman said that we met the commissioner secretary and other officials, even though a few months back we had a discussion with the government in Jammu and still then after we waited for ten months.
"We don't want to come on roads, we held a series of meetings with the advisor, let the government come with a clear policy on how to run this corporation smoothly, otherwise let them clear our pending salaries without any delay, '' said Chairman JKSRTC.
