Floral tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 30: Sarpanch Badrinath Sharma along with others from RS Pura constituency on Sunday paid rich floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 74th death anniversary who laid his life for the nation. Paying his tributes, Sarpanch Badrinath Sharma said that all the countrymen need to follow the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi. He is the epitome of peace and non-violence. Many people have laid their lives for the freedom that we hold today and they must be our inspiration. He recalled his selfless services and sacrifices given by him for honour, dignity of the Nation and people. He also threw light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi which was full of sacrifices and termed him and apostle of peace and harmony. He said as the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had become a role model to the world by showing a new path of freedom movement with prayer, pleading and protesting as the weapons. Sharma hailed the Mahatma for accelerating the freedom movement through non-violence and Satyagraha. He said people should adhere to his ideals of peace, non-violence, simplicity, purity of means, and humility. His ideals continue to motivate millions. On Martyrs' Day we recall the heroic sacrifices of all those great women and men who devoted themselves towards India's freedom and the well-being of every Indian," he said. Prominent among those present on the occasion include OBC Community President RS Pura constituency Ajay Kumar, former Naib Sarpanch Rakesh Khajuria, Ramesh Sharma, Naveen Sharma, Raj Kumar Sharma, Bittu Sharma beside others. |
