Day temperature improves in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 30: The minimum temperature in Kashmir valley remains at sub zero while the day temperature at most places was recorded at several notches above normal with bright sunshine during the day one Sunday.
A Meteorological Department office said, Srinagar the summer capital of Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.3 degree Celsius on Sunday against minus 1.0 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature was 4.4 degree Celsius above normal against the 7.5 degree recorded on Saturday.
Famous ski resort of Gulmarg in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 7.4 degree Celsius on Sunday which was a notch above normal for this period of the season. The maximum temperature was recorded 0.8 degree Celsius against the 0.5 degree Celsius on the previous day. Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of minus 3.2 degree Celsius against minus 3.2 degree Celsius recorded the previous night.
In the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir mercury dipped to a low of minus 7.0 degree Celsius Sunday against the minus 2.8 degree Celsius the previous day where the maximum temperature was recorded 9.4 degree Celsius against the 4.9 degree Celsius on Saturday.
Kokernag recorded a low of minus 2.8 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.4 degree Celsius on Sunday.
