Cold conditions prevail in Kashmir ahead of wet forecast

Srinagar, Feb 2: An overcast sky in Kashmir has intensified cold conditions ahead of a wet forecast as the minimum temperature stayed below the freezing point in the Valley.
An independent weather forecast of a western disturbance may cause light to moderate rains and snow in the Kashmir Valley till February 3.
Most parts of Jammu region were likely to receive light to moderate rains with snowfall on the higher reaches.
In Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir, the minimum temperature was minus 1.9 degree Celsius on Wednesday against 1.8 degrees a day earlier. It is minus 0.7 degrees below normal during this period of the season in the Kashmir Valley.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 8 degrees Celsius against minus 9 degrees the previous night. In Pahalgam, the minimum temperature was minus 6.1 degree Celsius against minus 6.2 degrees recorded a day ago.
Qazigund, on the Srinagar-Jammu highway plunged to a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius against minus 0.3 degrees the previous night. Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius.
