Kashmir weather set to improve | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 4: Rain clouds over Jammu and Kashmir have dispersed and the MeT on Friday forecast isolated scattered drizzle and light snowfall in the valley for next 24 hours till Saturday, ahead of a two-day expected dry spell. The minimum temperature in the valley stayed below freezing point at most places with Gulmarg recording a minimum of minus 12 degrees Celsius. The north Kashmir ski resort region received 1.6mm of rainfall till 8.30 am and a six degree drop in temperature. It is 4.4 degrees below normal for this time of the year. Srinagar received 4.8mm of rain and recorded a low of 1.6 degrees Celsius. The weather here improved as clouds cleared and sun played hide and seek Qazigund got 6mm of rain and recorded a low of 0.2 degree Celsius. Kokernag in south Kashmir, recorded 5.5 cm of snowfall and recorded minus 1.1 degree Celsius. Pahalgam, also in south Kashmir got 11.1cm of snowfall, recording minus 3.4 degrees Celsius. Kupwara town in the north got some rain and snow and recorded a low of minus 0.4 degree Celsius, the MeT office said. |
