SKUAST-J organizes farmer awareness-cum-input distribution programme

JAMMU, Feb 9: In the series of 75 years of Independence to celebrate AzadiKka Amrut Mahotsav, Agrometeorology Section, SKUAST-J under the aegis of Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice Chancellor and guidance of Dr. Pardeep Wali, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu organized one day "Farmer awareness cum input distribution programme" at village Ranjri, Teshil - Vijaypur, District Samba today.
Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J was the chief guest, Dr. Pardeep Wali, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu and Joginder Paul Mehta, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO, J&K were guests of honour of the programme. In this programme 150 farmers (male and female) participated.
The programme was presided by Dr. Mahender Singh, Sr. Scientist and Incharge AICRPAM, who welcomed the gathering and discussed in detail about the importance of organizing such awareness programme.
Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, highlighted the various activities undertaken by the university for the welfare of the farmers for boosting their income from agriculture enterprises and also encouraged the farmers to take more and more participation in such type of programmes. He also distributed 115 packets of Nano Urea and 230 fruit plants (mango & phalsa) to the farmers of village.
Dr. Pardeep Wali, Director Research, SKUAST-J, stressed upon the farmers to adopt the new climate resilient technologies developed by SKUAST-J, Chatha, Jammu.
Joginder Paul Mehta, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO, J&K was the guest of honour of programme and explained about the functioning by IFFCO in J&K and new products developed by the cooperative society.
Dr. A.P. Singh, Incharge, ACRA, Rakh Dhiansar, gave detailed information about package and practices of different rabi crops and their water management techniques.
Dr. V. B. Singh, Sr. Scientist, Plant Pathology, explained in detail the weather induced diseases occurrence in horticultural and field crops and their control measures.
