Govt Degree College organises national level faculty Devopment program at Chenani

Jammu, Feb 13: Govt Degree College, Chenani organised a virtual National Level Faculty Development Program in collaboration with Sunstone Eduversity , Gurgaon, Haryana on the theme “Students at the Center of Learning” .
The faculty development program was carefully designed to bridge the gap in quality teaching skills that are required to achieve excellence in education in India. The sub-themes of the program were Importance of Student Centricity, Effective Communication with Students, Understanding Student Motivation and Content that Works for the Students.
Dr. Ashvin M. Gutti, Director Academics, Sunstone University was the key Resource person, a specialist in academic leadership and pedagogy development and delivery. He dealt on the theme in detail and stated that we must articulate the importance of student centricity for the it is mandatory to design course content that works in the favour of the students.
He opined that it was essential to develop a strategy for effective communication with the student then and only we can understand the motivation level of the student. He further stated that universal design for learning is the need of the hour as the classroom students have different needs, have various backgrounds, different attention spans and interests, diverse language and cultural backgrounds. He emphasized that in order to bring transformation in teaching learning process a teacher should possess certain attributes like Mastery in subject knowledge, pedadogy innovation and empathy towards the students.
The whole program was designed under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna. She stated that the organization of such programs not only promotes the professional practices relevant to education but also motivates the faculty to achieve competitive teaching and learning environment, thus channelizing development with respect to academic qualifications and personal matters.
