Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 16: Roads are considered as face of the cities but in the power corridors of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory administration it seems to be of no meaning because roads of prominent cities face brunt of official apathy here so what to say about the roads of other towns and cities.
It is pertinent to mention here that your favourite newspaper Early Times has been highlighting the basic issues pertaining to general public of JKUT which include water scarcity, uninterrupted electricity supply and better road connectivity under a special campaign .
In today’s issue the road leading to Tangmarg from Srinagar has been in our topic which is in bad shape.Though the roads in Kashmir are no less in dilapidated condition than Jammu but according to locals they have been constantly bringing the matter under the notice of executing agencies.Right from Srinagar the road has developed potholes, ditches on it while long stretches are without black topping. Although matter has been brought into the notice of higher authorities but nothing has been done in this regard so far, some locals told while talking to this reporter.
People who come from other states of the country including tourists ,to Kashmir often rue the bad roads which they find all over around them.
Besides other destinations Srinagar-Tangmarg road also leads to world famous ski resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir where tourists throng during summers and winters in large numbers. So need of the time is that these roads must be properly maintained in all seasons. The bumpy drives and traffic quaos due to dilapidated condition is often seen on this road stretch putting commuters on inconvenience mode.
