Overstaying doctors call shots at DH Poonch
Widespread private practice deprives poor of free medical facilities

RAJESH TANDON
Early Times Report

POONCH, Feb 16: The overstaying doctors at District Hospital Poonch have been ruling the roost and grossly involved in their private practices which have been depriving the poor of free medical facilities.
Sources informed that only those doctors are encouraging private practices who are sitting at this hospital for the last many years in violation of transfer policy. It has been observed that these doctors motivate their patients to visit them in their private clinic for better treatment and patients who need surgery are generally becoming their main targets. "The doctors recommend the patients to private nursing homes for general operation and most people fall victim to them as they have no choice. These doctors charge hefty amounts from them for treatment," they alleged.
Despite the fact that free medical facilities are available in government hospitals, these doctors discourage patients for their personal benefits and authorities concerned act as mute spectators and don't take action to check these malpractices.
Gross irregularities were observed at the DH Poonch in COVID management, those who were not vaccinated got massages in their phone of successful vaccination and even several persons were shown vaccinated after their death, alleged sources while ridiculing the hospital authority.
They further alleged that the district hospital has become the first choice of blue eyed doctors. "Recently a senior official in district administration managed the posting of a female doctor from a block to district hospital despite ensuring her replacement in the block,' they alleged.
Even the hospital authority has denied the RTI information regarding COVID vaccinations in detail to information seekers and continues to put off the matter. Few doctors have been running the CMO office. The locals urged the LG to take action against the overstaying doctors.
When Early Times texted DC Poonch for his comments, he did not reply despite reading the message.
