'Enough contributors' to win WC: Lanning | | | agencies LINCOLN (NEW ZEALAND), Mar 1: Australia skipper Meg Lanning feels confident with her team as it has "enough contributors" to win the forthcoming Women's Cricket World Cup 2022. Australia will begin their campaign against England on March 5 at Seddon Park, Hamilton. "Heading into this World Cup we have got a lot of depth within our squad. We have been able to add some younger players in, who have made an impact straightaway and contributed in some wins for us," Lanning told ICC. Australia were knocked out of the 2017 World Cup in semi-final at the hands of India. When asked how different is the current squad to the previous one, Lanning said, "Back then (in 2017) we probably relied on few players. World Cups are very hard to win and you need a whole squad to be able to do it. I feel very confident with the team we have got. We have enough contributors to be able to get the result we want". "We go out there to win every game we play. To win this World Cup you need a pretty majority of wins. Our first aim is to get through the group stage. There are seven games that we need to play before we get to that point. No doubt we have come here to win the tournament. That is a big challenge because every other team is here to do that as well." As captain, the 29-year-old has won three T20 World Cup trophies but has not been able to lift the ODI World Cup. However, she does not consider it a personal driving force in the upcoming showpiece event. "I want to lead this team as well I can. This is one tournament we have not been able to win over the past 5-6 years. It is certainly driving us to make sure we achieve that. But for me personally, I don't think that is any more of a driver than just team's success," she signed off.
