GMC Jammu: No medicines for patients, Ayushman Card not helping anyone
Touts, agents call shots; people urge Lieutenant Governor to order probe

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 4: Patients and their attendants at Government Medical College Hospital Jammu are facing immense hardships due to the alleged lackadaisical attitude of the authorities.
One of the attendants while talking to a local news channel said, “My father is a diabetic patient and he was admitted at GMC Jammu after he developed some complications. Despite having an Ayushman Bharat Card, I had to purchase the medicines and surgical instruments, including a scissor and stitching thread from the open market.”
“I want to ask the authorities that if one has to buy the medicines from outside then why have these cards been given to people?” he said.
Another attendant said, “Lifts meant for patients in the hospital are not working.
Despite private security personnel guarding the hospital pickpockets and unscrupulous elements move in the hospital without any restrictions.
The agents of medical shops and private diagnostic centers lure people to buy medicines and get their tests done from the outside. The entire hospital seems to be in a mess.”
They urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to order an enquiry to ascertain what is happening in the most visited hospital in Jammu.
