Cong, BJP leaders from J&K proved unlucky for their parties in Punjab
3/14/2022 12:07:15 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Mar 13: Two national parties-BJP and Congress faced a humiliating defeat in the just-concluded assembly elections in neighbouring Punjab where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has created history.
The Aam Aadmi Party has made a clean sweep in Punjab after winning 92 of the 117 assembly seats on Thursday, with Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal, and former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh among the heavyweights who lost.
Congress, which was ruling the state for the last five years, managed to get only 18 seats and BJP two.
Jammu and Kashmir based leaders of both Congress and BJP were actively involved in the campaigning for their respective parties.
During the campaign, social media accounts of leaders of Congress and BJP, who were camping in Punjab, were flooded with posts and pictures. These leaders have posted pictures on their social media accounts to give an impression that they were working assiduously to ensure the victory of their respective parties.
It is widely believed that instead of seriously campaigning for their respective parties, these leaders from J&K were more concerned about flooding their social media accounts with pictures.
Results of the assembly are a clear indication that campaigning these leaders were confined only on social media and on the ground situation was entirely different.
As per sources, both BJP and Congress suffered badly in these areas where leaders from J&K have campaigned for their respective parties.
Jammu-based BJP leaders were assigned the job to campaign in the Majha belt of Punjab which was once considered a strong base of the party.
