Rename Jammu East constituency as Temple City Jammu: Cong

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 21: The Congress has demanded naming Jammu East as” Temple City Jammu” assembly, Bahu segment as “Bawe wali Mata” Assembly and Thannamandi as “Shahdara Sharief “ Assembly.
In the written objections filed by the Party to delimitation Commissiom, the party has taken strong objections to the several violations of norms and ignoring peoples aspirations like clubbing of Anantnag, Poonch Rajouri lok sabha seat instead of increasing one more Lok sabha seat, ignoring genuine aspirations of due representation of kashmiri pandits, Sikh and Christian minority and POJK displaced.
Congress has also serious questions about the ratio and large variiations in population of assembly segments from constituency to constituencu, district to district and even with in one district, pointing out ignoring all criterias. The smallest constituencies range from 37000 to less than 70000 while large segments of 1.92lakh, 1.88 lac and several others over 1.70lakh, questioning the justification.
Several areas have been unreasonably separatee and clubbed with other segments, putting people to inconvenience.
Larger districts have lesser seats, while smaller dists have more seats with great population variations. Seeking amendments and review and hearing the gruievances, the party demanded that commission should visit each district HQs to redress geuine grievances of people,. The objections were drafted based on inputs from public with due consultations of tip PCC leadership andsubmitted to the commission through mail and hard copy too in Jammu today, through chief spokesperson, sources said.
