Despite having no outstanding, man receives power bill of Rs 2, 24,708
PDD refuses to rectify mistakes, asks to pay bill

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 29: In a very startling incident, an elderly man received a power bill of Rs 2,24,708 for the month of March 2022 despite having no balance outstanding but more shockingly, the Power Development Department refused to accept and rectify the mistake and asked the consumer to pay off the bill.
Aggrieved Vijay Kumar of Janipura, alleged that PDD department had made a blunder by sending him a whopping electricity bill over two lakhs and now the department had not been accepting its mistake despite giving representation to the concerned AEE.
“I have complied all the monthly power bills since 2008 to February 2022 which have cleared me but this time I got a power bill of Rs 224708, which was absolutely indigestible and it was a clear mistake of the department but my grievance is not being addressed,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, a social activist, Sunil Dimple, who was accompanying him accused the PDD for harassing the common and poor people by sending power bills worth lakhs. “PDD has been launching indiscriminate drive and disconnecting the power connections,” he alleged.
He accused the government especially BJP of becoming anti people and alleged that instead of helping people in this crisis when people have been facing huge difficulty due to COVID pandemic, BJP has been watching it as mute spectator. He further said the government should waive off the bills in order to provide succour to the poor.
