Jammu, Mar 29: While the family of a policeman and his brother recently killed in terror attack in Budgam are still in a state of mourning, the Raj Bhawan paid tributes to them sharing pictures of a musical show in Jammu. Many of the twiterattis were taken by a shock when the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on its official handle posted the pictures of singing and dancing and giving away awards to the musical show winners in a tweet meant to pay homage to the martyrs. “Attended a programme to commemorate 150 years of J&K Police’s selfless service to the people. Govt to provide ex-gratia of Rs 10 Lakh to parents of SPO Ishfaq Ahmad & his brother Umar who were killed by terrorists. One of his brothers, an SPO will be promoted as constable in JKP,” the office handle said adding “My tributes to the martyrs of JKP, CAPF and Army, who laid down their lives for the country. I want to tell their families that entire nation stands united in its fight against terror.” “My message is very clear; terrorists will have to pay a very heavy price for their actions. We have given full freedom to our security forces and we have full faith they will ensure terrorists and their associates will be crushed,” the tweet in thread added. “J&K is marching on the path of growth &prosperity, emerging as a new model of socio-economic development. All those involved in terrorist acts& anti-national activities will not be spared. Properties used for willfully harboring terrorists &furthering terrorism will be confis People ask if wrong pics uploaded ated.” The pictures, however, were of the musical show, singing and dancing, and of those given away awards for winning the recently held Choona Hai Aasman contest. One of the Twiterratis with tricolor in her name Sneh N reacted: “Sir i guess you have put wrong photos with tweet.” A senior official told the Early Times on the condition of anonymity “Though the text in the message from the Raj Bhawan was appreciable and much needed, the selection of the pictures put the same in bad taste.” “The Tweet starts with the mention of the SPO and his sibling killed in Budgam. While their families are still in a state of customary mourning the Raj Bhawan has shown the concern with some odd pictures of singing and dancing. Is this how you console a family in a state of mourning?” asked the official. He said previously a team of officials would make selection of pictures for such sensitive posts lest it hurts anyone sentiments or puts the government to unwanted embarrassment. “But now here some officials on deputation have been taking things for granted. But the irony is that such sufarshi officials despite blunders like contemptuously terming the unfurling of tricolor as hoisting of the flag enjoy impunity as they are part of the inner coterie worth a high level probe,” the official said. The Raj Bhawan has already been facing severe criticism for focussing more of festivities like hosting musical concerts over security related issues amid spike in terror incidents.
