People pay heavy price for lack of coordination between JMC, Irrigation Deptt
Dust, muck engulf Nai Basti, Ashok Nagar, Gangyal
4/6/2022 11:27:42 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 6: Residents of Nai Basti, Ashok Nagar and Gangyal areas in Jammu city are suffering due to lack of coordination between the Irrigation Department and the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
According to the residents of Nai Basti area, officials of the Irrigation Department have started the drive to clean the canal passing through the area.
“The Irrigation Department cleaned the canal and dumped the muck on the road. This has led to dust engulfing the entire area.”
Despite the Irrigation Department claiming that canal has been cleaned one can see it still filled with filth.
The vehicles parked in the area are covered with dust, so are the shops and the houses.
Residents said that within a few days water will start flowing in the canal but if the filth is not cleaned it won’t serve any purpose.
“The Irrigation Department and Jammu Municipal Corporation should come up with a joint mechanism to clean the canal and instead of dumping the muck on the road it should be taken away in vehicles and dumped in the areas where there is no human population,” they added.
