The Growing Mobile Gaming market in India
4/9/2022 2:45:13 PM
India's gaming industry is only 1% of the world of games. This is small when compared to countries like the US and China. However, India is the world’s largest mobile gaming market in app downloads, constituting 12% of the total downloads worldwide. There is interesting growth in the mobile market industry in India. Vikash Jain, Boston Consulting Group Managing Director puts it better when he said, “The gaming industry in India has seen a growth of almost 40% in 2019-20, more than that of OTT, television and social media platforms. 86% of this market consists of mobile phone users.”

According to reports from Sequoia India and BCG, the Mobile Gaming Market in India is going to be worth over three times its current value by 2025. Presently, the worth of the market is around $1.5 billion. So, by then, it should be worth about $5 billion in revenue. That is a lot of growth for three years.

Why is the Mobile Gaming Market in India Thriving?

Why are so many reports pointing towards such massive growth in the mobile gaming industry in India? There are so many factors that have necessitated the growth of the industry and that keep fuelling it.

Famous Titles: More popular Indian native games are now accessible on phones. Top websites like onlinecasinoguide.in review these famous games and recommend where to play. Whether you want to play Andar Bahar, Teen Patti, Rummy, Poker, or whatever, you’l find great mobile platforms to enjoy them.
Better Phones: Every day, technology is improved and smartphones become bigger and better. Today, phones can be used for anything. They have been made a powerhouse. This includes games too. The overall outlook of games on phones and the interaction between the games and the users are better. This is not just because game providers, such as infosys.com, have up their game but also because smartphones have greatly improved. Tarun Gupta, the founder of ultimate battle, noted, “With smartphones penetrating every nook and corner of Indian grassroots and having the latest gaming tech embedded in them at an affordable price, the mobile gaming industry is the new industry to watch out for. Today, smartphones have overtaken PCs and consoles in the gaming category. They are being opted by millennials and even professional gamers to play games ...”

Influencers: Gaming influencers are a huge part of why the billion-dollar mobile gaming market keeps expanding.  They are a good means of advertising industries, products and projects. So, it is no surprise that influencers are a big part of the increase in gamers. “Gaming influencers with their unique content and highly engaging live streams have successfully penetrated a section of viewers who were untouched, expanding and sharing the excitement of the esports industry. It allowed viewers to connect with the players and has generated genuine interest in esports” The CEO and Cofounder of Trinity gaming, Abhishek Aggarwal, rightly said. This statement is also true for other mobile games.

Improved access to the internet: Not only is there improved internet access, but the internet in India is also cheaper now. So, more game lovers can afford to play their favourite games online from the confines of their homes or offices.

Global Pandemic: In 2020, there was a huge increase in not only mobile gaming but overall online activities worldwide. This is a result of the COVID pandemic and lockdown. India was not exempted from this crisis. As more people were forced to stay at home, the need for indoor leisure and fun activities forced them to take to playing games online. Interestingly, the interest in TVs and entertainment reduced while the interest in games increased. The World is gradually going back to its busyness, but it would seem that people are sticking to their love for games.

Will the Mobile Gaming Market Keep Developing?

While all reports point towards over 300% increase in the industry, human beings can be unpredictable. So, it cannot be said for certain if, in the next five years, people will still be interested in mobile games.  However, right now, many opportunities abound in the billion-dollar industry both for investors and game producers. We can only hope for the best going forward.
