Alliance Air’s first Made in India DO-228 flight lands in Arunachal | | | Agencies
Itanagar, Apr 12: The first flight of Made in India HAL Dornier Do-228 of Alliance Air with Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju and other dignitaries on board landed at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday, official sources said. “The historic flight lands at Arunachal Pradesh”, read a tweet from the Regional Executive Director AAI North-East Region. “MakeInIndia #Dornier Aircraft of @allianceair for commercial passenger operated for the first time in India. With dignitaries on board it arrived today at #Pasighat which marks the beginning of new era in #NorthEast India,” the AAI Regional Executive Director tweeted. Earlier taking to Twitter, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia said, “Overjoyed and proud to embark on the 17 seater Made-in-India Dornier 228 aircraft - in its first ever maiden service to Arunachal Pradesh! Jai ho!” Expressing his delight over the development and to be part of the ‘historic’ occasion, Minister Kiren Rijiju said in a tweet, “First time flying in fixed wing Aircraft to my State Arunachal Pradesh under “UDAAN” a vision of Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji connecting North East with ‘Made in India’ Dornier Aircraft of HAL. A symbol of #AatmanirbharBharat . Thank you @JM_Scindia for being here in person!” “Awaiting eagerly for this historic day tomorrow when the first commercial flight of made-in-India Dornier plane from Dibrugarh to Pasighat will be inaugurated. This light transport aircraft will be a game changer in facilitating better air connectivity in North East,” Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu had stated in a tweet on Monday. Earlier, the civil Dornier 228 aircraft took off from Dibrugarh in neighbouring Assam to land at the centurion town in East Siang district, giving a big boost to the regional connectivity under the Centre’s UDAN, the regional connectivity scheme. With this, Alliance Air has become the country’s first commercial airline to fly Indian made aircraft for civil operations. |
