National Minorities Commission takes cognisance of Jahangirpuri demolition | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 21: National Minorities Commission officiating chairperson Syed Shahezadi on Thursday said the commission has taken cognisance of Jahangirpuri demolition drive in Delhi and the commission will seek action if anything is wrong. She said the chairman and other members of the commission visited Jahangirpuri and they would submit the report to the government. "We will submit the report to the government and if there is any wrong doing, we will seek action. If there is anything, the minority commission will definitely respond," she said while addressing a press conference in Srinagar. Shahezadi said the report on Jahangirpuri demolition would be submitted to the Union Home ministry and they would surely recommend action, if there is anything which warrants action. When asked about the targeted attacks on Muslims in the country, she said everything is fine here. "…Some people want to create a wedge between us but we should not pay any heed to the issue. Rather, we should focus on our development. Some minority organisations and foreign powers want us to remain as such, they do not want us to prosper. But everything is fine,” Shahezadi said. On attacks on the minority community in Kashmir, she said some incidents do happen but it shouldn’t be made into an agenda. "Punishment should be given to those who have committed something wrong, be it Hindus or Muslim or Christian or Sikh. People from every religion are important to maintain peace in the society. We are all Indians and this country cannot be developed by Hindus or Muslims alone. Everyone has to put in an effort,” she added. |
