Asian body supports Handball League | | | agencies NEW DELHI, Apr 21: The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) has promised to support the Premier Handball League (PHL) by facilitating the entry of top Asian players, officials and experts said on Thursday. PHL has been fashioned with a view to transform the game in India and the Asian body's support will be crucial in that direction. AHF's gesture came when a PHL delegation met with it in Tehran and discussed the road map. The Indian delegation was led by Anandeshwar Pandey, Executive Director of the Handball Federation of India (HFI) who was accompanied by Manu Agrawal, CEO, Bluesport Entertainment, and Aseem Merchant, Director- Bluesport Entertainment. Bluesport Entertainment is the exclusive licensee of the league under the aegis of the HFI. "We are delighted to know the vision and commitment of PHL to popularise handball in India. India has great potential to be the next handball destination," said Bader Al-Theyab, the International Handball Federation Vice President and Finance Director of AHF. AHF has 44 countries as members who are committed to provide expertise and participation of top Asian players in the first edition of the PHL. HFI Executive Director Anandeshwar Pandey said: "There is immense talent in India and we are working on transforming and nurturing that talent into champions." |
