Now school kids become victim of incorrigible Babu Raj
VVIP syndrome
4/24/2022 12:59:28 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 23: The worst ever VVIP syndrome was on display when an order issued by the school education department was issued hinting that in order to ensure smooth movement of VIP vehicles, school timings in summer capital are changed.
Such an order caused uproar on social media with people questioning such unnatural and uncalled for Diktats by the administration. “Every civilized society will treat its school-going children a high priority in any civic administrative system. This "order" almost explicitly paints Srinagar city's school-going children as a "problem". Again, for the inefficiency of the governance system, school going children are supposed to be the ‘soft targets', for the sake of the comfort of the "prioritized lot." The wording and the substance of this sans any civility and empathy. It is a shame!!,” wrote one netizen.
“There are many many other things to decongest city traffic. Poor condition of roads, unnecessary bottlenecks created by security check-ups, wrong side driving, VIP syndrome and many other things. Children's school timing comes much later,” wrote another.
“Do they know that school children are to report from distant places to centrally located schools? They need private transport. How can it happen all of a sudden, Simple is to change the office time of employees and get rid of the traffic chaos.”
Netizens also said that it was not so much about the timing as much as the language of this letter, which normalises the notion of school-going children being synonymous with the city's congestion problem. “Who on earth will call children - who must be accorded top priority for their safety and wellbeing - a problem of congestion. This strand of cognition must be challenged for the love and wellbeing of all our children.”
“8.30 to 2 pm timing can impart extra stress to school going. The communication read a staggered timings to different classes can cause loss of inclusiveness among all students. To solve this the office timings of young ones could be changed.”
Another netizen said: “Treating school going children as a problem is unjustified statement and if the traffic department has not the potential to streamline the traffic system then for what reason they are doing their duty on ground. I mean if we can't provide free environment and free passage to the school going kids then how we will save their future. Why our children is becoming the victim all the time. School going children specially small kids need proper sleep of 8 hours and by implementing this order they have to wake up in the early to catch the school bus before 8 am , this is really insane . I feel sorry for the officials who issued this order without taking the priorities of a child into consideration. Why don't they change the office timings atleast these babus do some work while having fresh mind.”
