Fair weather prevails in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Apr 27: Fair weather condition prevailed in Kashmir Valley on Wednesday with the Meteorological Department forecast of brief spell of rain thunderstorm over next two days.
The MeT forecast it will remain hot and dry till Thursday, followed by a brief spell of light rain and thunderstorms likely on Friday and Saturday.
There is no forecast of any significant weather for next one week. Expect further rise in day temperature in Jammu region, the MeT office said.
Fair weather conditions prevailed in Srinagar and its adjoining areas with bright sunshine. The minimum temperature was recorded as 9 degree Celsius which was 0.3 degree below normal at this time of the season. However, the maximum temperature was 1 degree above normal and was recorded as 23.8 degree Celsius.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir saw a low of 1.2 degrees Celsius against the 4.2 degrees Celsius which was 3 degrees below normal for the ski resort for this time of the year.
However, the maximum temperature was 1.2 degrees above normal which was recorded as 14.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius against the 4.4 degrees Celsius, Qazigund saw a low of 6.6 against the 7.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday while Kokernag was at 6 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara, the frontier Kashmir district saw a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius against 7.8 degrees Celsius which was 0.6 degree below normal on Wednesday, the MeT office said.
