VSOs hail DC for recommending nomination for POJK refugees in JK Legislature

JAMMU, May 8: Various Sikh Organizations (VSOs) have appreciated the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission (DC) for nominating POJK refugees in the forthcoming legislature to the Union Government.
Addressing a joint press conference of Various Sikh Organizations here today, Sudershan Singh Wazir, Chairman Sikh United Front J&K, said that the refugees of POJK, who have been waiting since long for political representation in the legislature of J&K, hope that the union government which has a pro-active policy vis a vis POK will definitely take a call on this recommendation and defreeze at least 50% of the total 24 seats reserved for the POJK residents as envisaged in the reorganization act of J&K state 2019 by the parliament.
Wazir also demanded the implementation of the recommendations made by the parliamentary committee in their recommendation number 183 and asserted that all the recommendations of the parliamentary committee be implemented in letter and spirit for the permanent resolution of the POJK refugees’ issues.
Various Sikh Organizations while participating in the press conference also appreciated the recommendation of the delimitation commission for nominating two Kashmiri migrants which include not only the Kashmiri Pandits but Sikhs and other communities as well. Wazir expressed the hope that while making nominations in this category all the communities who have migrated from Kashmir during the turmoil should be considered favorably.
Darbinder Singh, President Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, said that this is a revolutionary recommendation which will open a new door for the POJK refugees community which has suffered for the last more than 75 years at the hands of the
Mohinder Singh, Chief Organizer Bhai Khaniya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and ex-DGPC Member Jammu, said that not only the Sikhs but POJK refugees belonging to all communities must be duly represented while making nominations as per the percentage of the communities belonging to different religion and areas as well. He complimented the delimitation commission for an exhaustive exercise and making recommendations beyond its scope especially in the case of POJK refugees and Kashmiri migrants.
All the Sikh Organizations represented by various leaders of J&K expressed their gratitude to the Delimitation Commission for making these representations and called upon the Prime Minister that the commitments made to POJK refugees on various occasions with regard to political representation and due compensation for the left over property shall be fulfilled.
