BJP doing divisive politics to divide people: Rahul Gandhi
5/16/2022 10:40:18 PM
AGENCIS
UDAIPUR, May 16: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a fresh attack at the ruling BJP accusing it of trying to divide people with its 'divisive' politics. "Today, there is a fight between two ideologies. Congress party works to unite the people, while BJP tries to divide with its 'divisive' politics," he said while addressing a rally in Banswara, in presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, senior party leaders and others. The former Congress president who has been accusing the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre of benefitting a few industrialists since it came to power, said,"Modi ji wants to make two 'Hindustan', one for the rich people by favouring few industrialists and another for the poor, dalits and adivasis. We won't let it happen. Congress will fight against it." He further said, "Modi ji brought 'black laws' against the farmers to benefit few industrialists, but had to revoke them following massive protests." Taking a dig at the ruling dispensation over demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Wayanad MP said, "The country's economy has been destroyed due to demonetisation and defective GST." He also spoke on rising unemployment and inflation in the country. The Congress MP and his party had earlier accused the Centre that it failed to address the issue of unemployment and inflation. Highlighting about the various schemes which the Congress-led UPA government took for the benefit of the tribals, the Congress leader in a veiled attack on the BJP said, "Congress party and adivasis have a long relationship. We are always committed to protect your history and culture. We will never try to suppress you or make attempts to erase your history like others." "During the UPA government, we bought several policies for the welfare of the adivasis," he claimed. Earlier, senior Congress leader and CM Gehlot while addressing the mammoth gathering in an apparent attack on the BJP over reported violences in several parts of the country, said, "Who are behind these violences ? Who is reaping the benefits ? People of the country are well aware of it. Congress is the only party which works to unite the country." Talking about the burning issues which the people of the country are facing, Gehlot said, "Today, there are problems of unemployment and inflation. The Congress party will fight against it and stand with the people. Development will be our main agenda."
