Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 24: With the sole motive to double the income of farmers, Govt. of India & JK UT Govt. has initiated number of agriculture development schemes focussing on the consumption and need. The department of Agriculture production and Farmers' Welfare has launched special programme to promote and produce the cash crops to glorify the socio-economic status of farmers. Under the directions of Director Agriculture Jammu, Dr. K. K. Sharma and skilled supervision of Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur, Sanjay Anand the farmers of Udhampur district are heading towards Turmeric and Ginger cultivation at large scale covering areas upto village level as Ghordi Khas, Ghordi Jagir, Jandrore, Hartyan, Bindla, Birnoo, Dhalpar, Rathian, Thanoa, Kawa, Kashirah, Battal, Fangial, Sounthan, Dhamma, SK Ber. About 101.30 Qtls. of Turmeric seed & 68.5 Qtls. Ginger seed has been supplied to the farmers of all categories as intimated by Area Developement Officer (Veg) Udhampur Dr. Ashwani Jojra. The farmers of said villages are very enthusiastic and eager to promote & produce these cash crops and are very convinced and supportive to fulfil the dreams of Pradhan Mantri to double their income by becoming instrumental in practising the initiatives & interventions of agriculture department as for these innovative strategies for diversification of agriculture their families are getting employment & wages and getting pure organic spices of their own ensuring their good health. |
