Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 24: The Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (PoJKLF) has lauded the J&K Delimitation Commission's recommendation for nomination of representatives for the displaced community from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The PoJKLF office bearers in a meeting held today at its office in Gadi Garh, Jammu urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi led union government to give reasonable representation i.e. 12 nominated seats to the PoJK Displaced Persons (DPs) in J&K Legislative Assembly so as to heal the decades old wounds of the community.
Pritam Lal Sharma - Convenor PoJKLF while addressing the meeting, welcomed the recommendations of Delimitation Commission with regard to representation of PoJK DPs and Kashmiri Pandits in J&K Legislative Assembly.
He asserted that the incumbent Centre Govt has exhibited great courage in taking up the long pending issues of the displaced community for redressal as previous dispensations only did lip service and kept our cause neglected. "It is learnt that the Centre is mulling to nominate four seats to PoJK DPs but that is not reasonable. The community deserves at least 12 seats," he added.
Also speaking, Co-convenor Vijay Sharma said they want reasonable representation in J&K Legislative Assembly which should be the half of the total number of 24 PoJK seats that are kept on freeze.
"We are sizeable number of people. Almost entire non-Muslim population of the PoJK region has been relocated to this part of J&K and our people suffered most in the last seven decades. Now, we urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give us adequate representation in the J&K Legislative Assembly in the form of 12 nominated seats", he said.
Sharma flayed the previous governments for denying the rights of displaced community and hailed the Modi Govt for approving the rehabilitation package to DP families. Several other members also expressed their opinion on the matter.
Among those present in the meeting include Vikas Sharma Co-Convenor, Naresh Kumar, Karamjeet Singh, Ramneek Singh, Suraj Parkash Khajuria, Pushkar Prashar, Surinder Sharma, Yash pal Khajuria, Govind Raj, Parveen Kumar, Jagdish Raj and Rakesh Sudan.
