NYCs hold protest, demands enhancement in salaries | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 24: Hundreds of National Youth Corps (NYCs) on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration at Press Enclave in Srinagar demanding enhancement of their salaries, witnesses said. The NYCs holding placards assembled at Press Enclave on Residency road were shouting slogans demanding justice and enhancement of their salaries. The NYCs were demanding that their salary from Rs 2500 should be enhanced to the limit that they could run their families daily affairs easily. The protesters urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into their grievances sympathetically on humanitarian basis and enhance our salaries to the limit that could secure the future of our children". The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday had ordered to disengage Rehbar-e-Taleem, Janglat, Zirat and NYC's and had sent it to the State Service Recruitment Board (SSRB) for fresh advertisements. However, on Monday the authorities clarified that they have no plan to disengage them. Several NYC's fainted during the protest demonstration and were shifted to hospital for treatment. |
