Punishing Traitors
5/26/2022 11:39:05 PM

The NIA court awarding a lifer to Yasin Malik, one of the first terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, in terror funding case has sent a strong message to all the terrorist supporters that “New India” won’t tolerate any nonsense and the traitors will be dealt like traitors.
Malik, who is known to have killed four IAF personnel in a terror attack in January 1990, was convicted on May 19 after he pleaded guilty to all the charges in connection to a 2017 case related to terrorism and secessionist activities.
Nirmal Khanna, wife of IAF Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna who was killed by Yasin Malik and gang, said she wants capital punishment for the JKLF terrorist as he has been alive for 32 years after killing her husband. In my case, I would demand “blood for blood.”
The families of Kashmiri Pandits who were killed by JKLF ultras in 1990 are also demanding capital punishment for Malik. He is booked in around 70 cases of murder and terrorist activities, Malik is separately facing trial in two high-profile cases of the CBI in Jammu’s TADA court -- kidnapping of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s daughter, Dr Rubaiya Sayeed, and killing of the four Indian Air Force personnel.
The CBI had investigated and filed challan in both these cases in 1990. Malik got the trial stayed in April 2009. Due to political and bureaucratic intervention but the CBI revived and transferred these cases to Jammu and trial started in April 2019.
After Pulwama terror attack that left 40 CRPF men dead in February 2019 the situation in J&K changed completely, separatist organizations were banned and a massive crackdown was launched against separatists and their supporters. As on date all the separatists are in jails and are facing different charges.
The NIA court’s verdict to grant life imprisonment to Malik is a clear message to one and all that the ones who preached, hate, secessionism, sedition, orchestrated cold blooded murders would have to face the law of the land. The ones who used to come for their rescue have been left powerless. A strong opinion to seek “blood for blood” is building up as the people who have lost their kith and kin during the past three decades of terrorism in JK are seeking justice.
