GPCC beats GCC by 1 wicket to win the final of 1st Knockout Cricket Cup

JAMMU, June 2: A knockout cricket tournament was organised by Binny and Aman in which 8 teams participated from the nearby area. The final match was played between Gurha Pattan Cricket Club and Garkhal Cricket Club. GCC wins the toss and manages to score only 51 runs loosing all wickets. Gurha Pattan Cricket Club find it very hard to chase the target and won the final having just one wicket in their hand. Ballu was declared man of the match whereas Vishal remained the leading wicket taker.
In a simple and an impressive prize distribution program during the finals Ex Sarpanch Ravi Verma was the Chief Guest and Atul Sudan Youth Leader AAP was the Guest of Honor who awarded Winners, Runner-ups, Man of the Match and Man of the Series with trophies and cash award. Other prominent present during occasion are Retired TSO Ashok Sharma, Surinder Singh, Kar Singh, Arun Singh etc.
While addressing the gathering Ravi Verma congratulated all the players of the finals and appreciated Binny and Aman for organizing the successful event. He said these kinds of events will keep youth away from the drug menace. He encouraged youth to make games and sports a regular part of their daily life. He said games and sports teach us a lot of qualities including leadership, team spirit etc.
Atul Sudan Youth AAP leader while addressing the gathering congratulated the winning and runner ups teams and advised them to rejuvenate their energy to further polish their skills to perform at higher levels of competitions. He said that sports activities have a significant impact on the social and mental development of youth adding that games inculcate leadership qualities and imbibe the spirit of discipline. He said rural areas have a lot of talent which needs to be identified and provided a platform where they can explore themselves. He said that rural areas still lack basic infrastructure for sports and games which should be addressed by the UT Administration.
