JAMMU, June 3: Under the aegis of "Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav" the NSS and NCC units of GDC Basohli in collaboration with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya organized an awareness campaign to encourage the use of a bicycle for a healthy and sustainable life. The event was organized under the patronage of Dr. Nidhi Kotwal, principal of the college and carried out under the supervision of Dr. Papinder Kumar, ANO, NCC unit and Dr. Shiv Kumar, Programme Officer, NSS unit Sh. Sandeep Sharma, PTI. The rally was flagged off by the college principal, among others Sh. Jai Pal Singh, principal JNV Basohli, faculty members, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers participated in the event. On the day, Dr. Kotwal highlighted the importance of the bicycle on climate and human health. She further said that it is one of the oldest way of transportation, which is cost-effective, environment friendly and a way to achieve health equity by reducing life-threatening diseases. More than 30 NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and JNV students participated with great enthusiasm in the rally. The principal of the college and JNV, Basohli applauded the efforts of the NSS and NCC for organizing such events to disseminate awareness in the community to follow healthy practices for the healthy life-style.
