Jammu, June 3: Narrating a horrific tale of events following the killing spare in Kashmir valley, the mother of Kashmiri Pandit employee Amit Kumar said that she had to remove the Bindi before stepping out there feet outside the home to even purchase vegetables from market.
Amit Kumar who is working as an employee in Revenue department said that he and many like him are coining through the trauma due to prevailing situation in Kashmir valley where selective killings are being done at behest of Pakistan.
“I had to remove Mouli thread from his arm to hide my identity of a Kashmiri Pandit - it is not easy to live in Kashmir valley under present circumstances” said Amit added that they are being paid merger salaries which is not enough to live with at the time when they are being charge hefty amount on account of the rent at private accommodation.
“Some people in Kashmir are taking advantage of the situation and we people are being asked to pay higher rents than the normal rent” said Amit added that it is not feasible to stay in Kashmir valley at the cost of the job.
“Life is the first priority- not the job - if we manage to survive - we can get some other job - if life ends - nothing is meaningful including any job” said Amit.
Amit mother said that they fear for the life of his son while he was on duty and take a sign of relief only when he (Amit) returns to home.
She said that they feel safe in Jammu after returning back added that she is now without any fear following her faith and called upon the government to take action able steps to ensure the safety of Kashmiri Pandit and non local employees in valley.
Amit’s father said that Kashmiri Pandits are and is facing problems since 1947 and many such migrations had taken place in all these years, but the situation today is entirely different.
“Govt is paying 15000 salary to my son- is this enough to survive- we spent 5000 on one side trip from Jammu to Srinagar- we have to move alongside our son - we can’t left him alone” said Amit Father who added that the relief including 13000 cash assistance is not enough for them under present circumstances to survive.
Amit said that earlier people were being killed on roads, now they are killing them inside offices like in case of Rahul Butt and Vijay Kumar and called for bringing an end to hostile conditions in Kashmir valley.
