| NSS Unit GDC Kathua celebrates World Environment Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 5: On the World Environment Day NSS units Gdc Kathua organised Plantation Drive .Under this drive Volunteers planted number of saplings in their respective localities to support this campaign of Save Earth Save Environment. NSS Units decided in their previous meeting to promote each one plant one campaign in their respective localities .The World wide theme of this campaign was "Only One Earth" This Celebration was organized under aegis of "Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.Under this campaign volunteers planted medicinal, fruits and shady trees sapling in the different locations of the villages.Before this plantation drive volunteers conducted door to door Awareness Campaign regarding this plantation drive and appealed the people to plant one saplings each member of the family in their respective areas in the coming monsoon season also. Volunteers also impressed upon them not only plant tree but also nourishing them as they are nourishing their kids.People appreciated the volunteers for organizing this plantation and awareness campaign in the locality.The areas where this campaign was organised at Basantpur, Muthi Khurud, Hiranagar, Patel Nagar, etc. The Motive behind to organise this campaign was to promote Clean India - Green India campaign by planting a sapling in and outside the college campus. Around 200 saplings of flowering Plants, Ornamental and Medicinal Plants were planted by the volunteers. This campaign was organised under the direction of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt of India.
