Vested political interests engineering communal divide: Harsh Dev | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 10: Strongly condemning the attempts being made by certain vested interests to create communal divide for political motives the hitherto peaceful region, Harsh Dev Singh, Former Minister and senior AAP leader appealed the civil society and youth to expose and oppose the nefarious designs of such divisive forces. We have an age old history of communal harmony and brotherhood which can't be allowed to be subverted by reckless politicians for promoting their narrow parochial political interests, said Singh. Flaying the reports of communal tensions pouring in from various parts of Jammu and Chenab Valley during the last couple of days, Singh urged upon the youth not to fall prey to nefarious designs of disruptive forces. "We need to unite to face the onslaught of the enemy rather than falling in the trap of opportunist politicians. We have to give the message of Unity and brotherhood. The freedom that we obtained is the result of the united struggle of people belonging to various religious faiths. We can't trivialize the supreme sacrifice of our valiant Jawans and freedom fighters by resorting to hate campaign and communal violence engineered by vested interests. The youth has to carry forward the age-old legacy of mutual accommodation and goodwill in the ultimate interests of a stronger and powerful India", said Harsh Dev Singh. Cautioning the vested political interests to refrain from fishing in the troubled waters of the erstwhile State, Singh said that people will not tolerate their attempts of creating communal polarization for vote bank politics. "Don't you dare exploit the sentiments of the people on communal lines. Stop resorting to such gimmicks on the eve of elections. Vote bank politics has caused immense damage to our social fabric, our values, our traditions and our entity as a sovereign democratic republic. Think of the nation which comes first. You can't promote your parties by imperilling the nation and its people. People were closing observing the role played by all political parties and would stand by those who value national interest above their narrow political interests", said Singh. "Faith and politics should be kept separate. This general rule need to be followed by all in the interests of the nation and public good. It was generally believed that most sinister and ominous parties were those which used religion and Gods to control the people and to achieve power. It's unfortunate however that present day politicians were adding their own litre of fuel to communal tensions and thereby facilitating the division of society on religious lines. The saner elements therefore needed to join hands to save mankind and prevent religion from becoming the new currency of politics", asserted Singh. |
