Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 16: Shiv Sena J&K unit today staged strong protest against the acute shortage of water and power crisis that has crossed the limits of endurance. Led by Manish Sahni, State President, J&K, the Shiv Sainiks assembled in front of Party's Office in Jammu and raised slogans like "Khali Balti Khali glass…Kahan Hai Desh Ka Vikas", "Na-bijli na-paani hai BJP Sarkar ki Meharabani hai " etc.
Talking to reporters here, Sahni said that the Acche Din of the BJP have troubled the public. Now we are forced to buy water even for bathing. Despite having immense water resources, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have to yearn for water drop by drop. "The situation has become so bad that even after purchase, water is not available through tankers. Whereas Jammu and Kashmir is one of those states in the country where there is immense water resources," he said.
Sahni said that the under-construction water supply project on Chenab river, which was targeted for completion in 2016, is still hanging from its target even after six years. Under this project there was a provision to provide 24 hours water to Jammu city and to end the drinking water shortage forever, he added.
Sahni said that the ruling leaders, who gave the guile of water to Pakistan, are making their own people crave for water. At the same time, the public has also become troubled due to the increasing uninterrupted power cuts in the scorching heat.
Sahni said that unscheduled power cuts had made life "hell" for people during the hot summer months. "Without electricity in several parts of the city for 3 to 4 hours it is very difficult to live when mercury is going up upto 43 degrees. He alleged that promises of uninterrupted power supply made by the government are now proving to be hollow slogans.
Sahni appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, to at least give relief to the public by providing uninterrupted power and water supply.
On this occasion President Women's Wing Meenakshi Chhibber, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Chairman Rakesh Gupta, Vice President Balwant Singh, President kamghar Wing. Raj Singh , youth secretary Rajesh Handa, secretary Sanjeev Sudan, media advisor Deepak Sharma, Mangu Ram, Shashipal and many others were present.
