NC seeks immediate rollback of 'Agnipath' scheme | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 17: Zeeshan Rana, Additional Spokesperson National Conference criticized the central government over the newly introduced Agnipath scheme, saying the BJP dispensation requiring to amend rules under the scheme soon after its announcement indicates it was imposed on the youth in "haste", and demanded its immediate withdrawal. In a statement issued here today, the NC leader asked the Central Government to immediately revoke the Agnipath scheme, claiming that it is not in the interest of 'national security ' and youths. "This recruitment scheme is neither in favour of our national security nor it is in the favour of our future security of our youngsters," he said. Zeeshan sought three years relaxation in age to all the youngsters who are preparing for the Armed forces. He claimed that for last three years no recruitment rally has taken place. "The two years announced by the Defence Minister is inadequate. We demand the government should apologise to the youth of the country why for last three years no recruitment has taken place in the last three years in the Army," he said. Attacking the ruling government, the NC leader said, "Why the Prime Minister is not thinking about the aspiration of the youth of the country? The government brought this scheme to divert the attention of the people from its failure of addressing the 'unemployment issue' which is unfortunate." "Only to hide their failure on employment front, the government has put out a contract scheme. Youth want to serve for lifelong, not 4 years. This arbitrary scheme should be rolled back," he added. Zeeshan asked the Central Government to stop playing with the future of country's youth and immediate withdrawal the aforesaid scheme in the interest of youth of the country. |
