Natrang organizes a special session on the art of Cartooning

JAMMU, June 17: Natrang organized a special session on the art of Cartooning in its ongoing Summer Theatre Camp- 2022, the most sought event for children in the region. Sh. Chander Shekhar, an eminent cartoonist of JKUT was the resource person of today's session who very lucidly explained the brilliant art of cartooning to the young enthusiasts who could understand that cartooning is not just an expression of fine-arts, it requires a sharp intellect and out of the box perspective to be impactful. They could also relate that how this wonderful art supplements in theatre.
The Resource Person of today's session, Sh. Chander Shekhar is an innovative cartoonist and has earned a big name as a cartoonist not only in Jammu and Kashmir but at National level. He believes that the elegant way to describe the world, cartooning is an art to give a smile on the face of common masses which have seen as 'Humour with a Pinch of Salt'. A creative medium to correspond is also a visual semiotics and visual persuasion medium. For him, a cartoon can be simple or complex, and can be drawn in almost any style; but it's not an exact duplication of reality. It's a representation of the artist's perceptions of the world, and every person sees the same thing differently. Shekhar is the first cartoonist of Jammu who has exhibited three international cartoon exhibitions in Jammu and Kashmir.
Natrang's Children Theatre Wing was started in the year 1990 and since then, annual Summer Theatre camps, Spring Theatre workshops, Winter Theatre Workshops have been a regular feature of Natrang's children activities. The period of Summer Vacations is exclusively dedicated for Children Theatre every year by Natrang as this is the only time when children have many days in continuity to learn, explore and groom their personalities and improve their immense inner abilities in a fun-filled creative space and occasion. Till now, Natrang has groomed the personalities of thousands of children with an effective and efficient transforming tool called theatre.
The training module is designed by Padmashree Balwant Thakur, who has taken the children theatre of Jammu to the entire length and breadth of the Country. His children theatre productions like 'Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai', 'Aap Hamare Hain Kaun', 'Hum Hain Na', 'Udaan' etc. are considered to be the landmark children productions of India. Special training focus of the workshop will be on developing communication skills, public speaking and imbibing of confidence through latest developed techniques of theatre. The skill developing techniques, devised by Sumeet Sharma (Recipient of SNA's National Award for Theatre Direction) during his consistent and meaningful work with children for over 19 years also prove very successful in imparting the benefits of theatre to the children. The workshop module is consistently developed and upgraded by the innovative inputs by Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant & Aarushi Thakur Rana, senior functionaries of Natrang. The workshop is being coordinated by Gauri Thakur with the active support and assistance of Ms. Bhawana, Mohd. Yaseen, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Kananpreet Kaur, Niharika Madeel, Sushant Singh and Arti Bhagat.
