IGNOU organizes admission awareness camp | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 6: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre Jammu today organized an admission awareness programme at the HRDC Army Camp Domana, Jammu. A team comprising of the Regional Director I/C, Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Assistant Regional Director, Dr. Asha Upadhyay from Regional Centre Jammu visited the Army Camp and had a two-way interactive session with officials and Army personnel of different ranks. Lt. Col. Shakti Singh, Education Officer, HRDC Domana coordinated the programme. The belt force personnel were apprised about the new initiatives taken by the University to improve student support services and new programmes launched by the University for Skill Development and overall upliftment of the student community. The resource persons from the Regional Centre also informed fee exemption for Schedule Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates for several programmes offered through Common Prospectus. The jawans were sensitized about the flexibility that IGNOU offers to the students with regard to eligibility criteria, easy mode of applying for admission online, attending counselling/practical sessions online, submission of assignments online, applying for exams online, opting Examination Centre as per their choice and place of posting, prompt response to student grievances, etc. Many of the Amy personnel expressed their willingness to seek admission in certain selective programmes through IGNOU through the distance mode alongside their regular duties which will be beneficial for them for their future prospects and will not hinder their line of duty. |
