Early Times Report JAMMU, July 6: To observe the birth anniversary of Dr.Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu, Department Of Youth Affairs And Sports organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu at Government College for Women, Jammu. NSS Program officer, Parvaiz Ahmed, State Director NYK, Nisar Ahmed Butt; Honorary Secretary-Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, Satpal, Associate Professor Chemistry, Dr. Avinash K. Gupta; Associate professor, Zoology, Dr. Anuradha Gupta, NSS Program Officer, Dr. Mohd Majeed, NSS Program Officer, Dr.Gurpreet Kaur; Red Cross Society Jammu Region Member, Sh.Desraj were amongst the dignitaries present on the occasion . Principal, GCW Parade Jammu, Dr. S P Saraswat was the chief guest on the occasion. Assistant professor History, Smt. Jagmeet Kaur threw light on the life, works and achievements of Dr.Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. She informed the audience about the role of Dr. Mukherjee during the 1943 Bengal Famine by organizing large scale relief works for the famine stricken people. Dr. Mukherjee invited leading politicians like Pandit Jwaharlal Nehru, businessmen and philanthropists to devise ways and means to provide relief to the needy and distressed, she informed. Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu volunteers along with the students of GCW, Parade, Jammu took part in the blood grouping and sampling procedures. Around 75 volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu became the part of this camp successfully. NSS Program Officer, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur presented the vote of thanks on the occasion. |
