DEO discusses rationalization of polling booths with political representatives | | | Early Times Report
DODA, July 13: District Election Officer (DEO) Doda Vikas Sharma today convened a meeting with representatives of political parties and discussed the rationalization of polling stations. Addressing the meeting, the DEO said that polling stations were a vital part of the electoral process which need to be created keeping in view the convenience of the voters and must include all essential facilities. He informed the political representatives that there are 451 existing and newly proposed polling stations. “Go through the proposed draft which will be provided to you by the election office and includes total electorates, areas falling in and around to the polling station, and record comments/ rectification if required for smooth, fair and transparent elections,” the DEO asked the political parties. Any new proposal falling within the norms shall be considered and accepted, he added. Apart from this, the DEO also asked the Deputy DEO to gear up the BLOs and asked them to work efficiently and in a fair and transparent manner. Besides, the DEO also apprised the political representatives about the ensuing special summary revision of electoral rolls, which will give opportunity to the new eligible voters to get them enrolled as the last summary revision was done in 2019, he added. Among others present during the meeting were Dy DEO Akhtar Hussain Qazi, Election Naib Tehsildar Angrez Singh besides other concerned were also present. |
