7/20/2022 10:31:27 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 20: Youth Wing of J&K National Conference, Jammu, today staged a strong protest against BJP government at the Centre for imposing 5 per cent GST on pre-packed and unbranded food items.
Led by Tejinder Pal Singh, President Youth National Conference, District Jammu, the NC activists assembled in front of Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the anti-poor people policies of the BJP led Government at the Centre.
Talking to reporters here, Tejinder Singh said that this is for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir when non-branded food items are being brought under the GST and claimed that the decision was not in favour of the general public and traders.
The NC leader said that by increasing and levying the GST would work to sprinkling salt on the wounds of the people. He said that today, inflation has made the lives of common people troublesome, owing to dictatorial policies and decisions of the Central Government. Singh said the government should give relief to the people from rising inflation. He asserted that the government should make essential food items free from GST so that people could eat bread comfortably.
The National Conference leader asked the Centre to reconsider this decision and withdraw the increased rates of GST in public interest failing which the Party would launch series of protests against the anti-poor people policies of BJP government.
Those who were present on this occasion included:: Nitish Goswami, Muzamil Malik, Sshil Kerni, Avtar Singh, Meed Choudhary, Jaseen Malik, Jatinder Singth, Prince, Mudit, Amit Sharma, Karanpreet Singh, Ajay Kumar, Hardeep Singh, Simranpreet Singh, Dhananjay, Sahid Ali, Hitesh Kumar, Soura, Raghu, Varinder Pal Singh, Sudanshu Sharma, Manpreet Sing, Dalbir Singh and others.
