Ravinder demands maize crop compensation to farmers | | | Early Times Report
Sunderbani, July 20: JKPCC Chief spokesperson and former MLC Ravinder Sharma has said that farmers are getting huge loss as there is huge damage the maize crop due to large scale disease hitting the crop. During tour of Sunderbani and adjoining areas , Mr Sharma inspected the maize crop in fields and found that there is large scale disease affecting the seventy percent crop. The farmers complained about the quality of the seed supplies by the department which contained infection of the disease affecting seventy percent if standing maize crop. The farmers apprised him that they can't afford the insecticides prescribed to control the disease and they are great economic hardships. Mr Sharma urged the government to immediately conduct survey of loss to maize crop and also order enquiry into quality of deed supplied. Former MLC demanded assessment of the damage to crop and supply of prescribed insecticide to control the spread of disease. |
