Modi, Shah uphold promises | | | As Jammu and Kashmir celebrates the third anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, there are many things that have changed in the erstwhile State. The communities like West Pakistan Refugees, Valmikis and others who were deprived of their rights for seventy years have been brought at par with the natives of J&K and are enjoying equal rights. The shutdowns and street protests in Kashmir have become a history. Tourists are visiting J&K in large numbers. The terrorism is on decline as the security forces have an upper hand. New roads have been constructed and the older ones have been macadamized. The new-era of development has commenced in the Himalayan region and the process seems irreversible. Shops of separatists have been closed as no one in J&K is showing any inclination towards their propaganda and the false narrative which they peddled for the past thirty years. There has been a complete change and it’s visible. People have endorsed the Centre’s decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35-A and have welcomed complete merger of J&K with the Union of India. Recently, the Union Minister of State for Home, informed the Parliament that 1.06 crore tourists have visited J&K in the first seven months of this year and their number is swelling. He also informed that 53 projects worth Rs 58,477 crores in various sectors such as roads, power, health, education, tourism, agriculture, skill development under the Prime Minister Development Package (PMDP) are under implementation in Jammu and Kashmir and more are in the offing. The period from 2019 to 2022 has witnessed massive development and the promises that were made by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister. Amit Shah, have been fulfilled. J&K is on a path of prosperity and development and the achievements of the past three years have proven beyond doubt that the so-called special status was an impediment in J&K’s growth and development. During the past three years, J&K has become like other parts of the country. The denizens of the Himalayan region are getting what they deserve. They were kept away from the country under the illusion of “special status” by their leaders who ruled the erstwhile state for 70 years but failed to deliver. |
