Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 18: Under the leadership and guidance of Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J, Dr. J.P. Sharma, AICRP Weed Management, Division of Agronomy, organized a Parthenium awareness camp on 18th August, 2022 at Jinder Mehlu Village of Jammu district. In this occasion Dr. B.R. Bazaya, Professor and Incharge, AICRP-Weed Management explained that parthenium popularly known as carrot weed and it is considered as one of the most problematic very hardy weed of the world, it has now spread throughout the country including Jammu region and highlighted harmful effects of parthenium on crops and humans as it causes many skin diseases and allergies in both humans and animals. He advised to farmers and public to started vigorous campaign to eradicate parthenium completely at village level. Dr. R. Puniya Jr. Scientist, AICRP Weed Management explained about the physical, chemical and biological control measures for management of parthenium. Dr. Amitesh Sharm, SMS, KVK Jammu, and About more than 30 farmers have been participated in this programme including Sham Gorka, Sukhdev, Jagdish, Madan Lal, Tilak Raj, JAEO, Anil Bajwa, AEO.
