Appointing New Advisors
8/28/2022 11:15:09 PM

Appointment of new advisors to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has been long overdue. But the process to have new advisors in the office, according to the media reports, is in the final stages.
Recently, the issue of appointing the advisors was discussed on the sidelines of a security review meeting chaired by Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, in New Delhi. There are reports that names of two former police officers, one army officer and a senior journalist have been zeroed in and the advisors are going to be appointed among them.
At present LG Sinha has only one advisor R R Bhatnagar. In March 2022, Farooq Khan, who was Advisor to LG Sinha had submitted his resignation. Earlier, K K Sharma who was also an Advisor was appointed as the State Election Commissioner (SEC) while K Skandan, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ganaie had left the chair after J&K’s transition into a Union Territory in 2019. Baseer Khan however was removed from the chair.
After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and divided it into two Union Territories—Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed equitable development and progress. It’s on the path of peace and prosperity. The government functionaries have played an important role in ensuring that the schemes are implemented in letter and spirit and the administration remains accessible to a common man.
Former Advisors since 2018 played a vital role in ensuring that the administration remains accessible to a common man. The need for the new advisors is being felt and there is every possibility about LG Sinha getting a new team of advisors, but the final call in this regard has to be taken by the Prime Minister’s office.
There are reports that a political party wants to get one post of the advisor but till now there has been no word on it from the Prime Minister’s office. The suspense over new advisors is likely to end soon as the process is almost complete.
